We still don't have our car yet, but we've been trying to get in touch with neighbors and other friends. This last week we went out for dinner with some neighbors who are our age. They have a son who is almost 2, and before he's always been shy... but when we went out, he was very friendly with Angela! As we said goodbye to his mom (who got called into work), we came back up the elevator and he walked over to Angela and put his arms around her legs... very precious!
Tonight we talked with another neighbor who is very concerned with us not having a car yet... As we were talking, my little monyet (monkey) friends heard me, peeked their heads out, and asked if they could come play with me. Quickly it because a 9:30PM circus outside, and I got my weekly workout by picking them up and twirling them around... The littlest one came out too... He is adorable now that he's able to walk... Thankfully, the second to youngest one didn't come out as he's been very naughty lately... What was even better was that the dad came out and talked with us... We've actually only even talked with the parents a few times for a short amount of time because they keep to themselves (despite the fact that we know their kids VERY well).
This week we have language class on Monday night and then Tuesday is free, Wed night we're meeting one of Matt's friends from 8 years ago! I haven't seen him in about 6 years because he graduated and got a job on the east side of the country as a police officer. He will be in town for a few days and called me. I'm really excited to see him again (he's a friend from the local college I met so many friends at... I'll post the before and after pictures later!).
Thursday we'll be grading tests and packing because on Friday we are flying to Penang (an large city/Island on the North East side of the country). We have some friends who moved up there and are hoping to talk about whether to study, change jobs, etc. with them. That family is also a family from my first time being in Malaysia, so it will be good to reconnect (although it's only been about a year since we've seen them). We also hope to explore the Island (it's actually not what you think of when you think of an island because it's almost an entire state... it is mostly Chinese people who live their...). We'll be there 'till Monday and then it's back to work...
