For about a week now, Angela and I have been planning a weekend away... Well, when you don't have a car, going away consists of going to a nearby town (10 minutes away). They have a nice package deal at a hotel here, and we were going to go there for a night away (since we've got 2 days off work because of Chinese New Year). When we arrived at the hotel, basically we found out that they couldn't honor the package this weekend as some of their staff aren't working... I had reserved the package a few days back, and there were no warnings/problems then. After a bit of discussion, I asked the gentleman if the hotel on the same complex had a simiular package. He made a phone call and told me they did, and that the price was about the same. We went to the other hotel, and quickly found out the price was about 30% higher... At this point, we explained that we were told that the other hotel said it should be the same price. They made a phone call and sure enough, we were given the wrong information. At the end of the day, we drove away from the second hotel and discussed... should we go back to the first and demand that they make this right, or do we count our losses and go home.
We chose the second choice and went home. Perhaps another time...
In America, the second hotel (which was not affiliated with the first, they just sit on the same golf course) would have quickly lowered their price to make them look like the "good guys." Not here. The guys simply kept adding up the prices and showed me the "best rate" which was actually more expensive than I was quoted when I first walked into the second hotel. Anyway, nothing is perfect...
Instead we checked out a movie at the theatre. We had a good time laughing at the parts no one else laughed at and watching them laugh at parts that were perhaps funny, but not really.
