The bride and groom were Indian Malaysian. They wore the traditional white dress and suit for the wedding and traditional Indian clothing for their reception/dinner afterwards.
The Wedding:
One really funny thing during the wedding was the amount of people who got ON stage to take pictures - at one time over 10 people surrounded the wedding party from all sides with their point and shoot cameras - very distracting (and different culturally from a wedding in the US)!
The Reception
The reception was at one of the local universities. They had a great dinner of Indian food. They also had several traditional dances for us to enjoy. They also had a picture slideshow which was refreshingly well done - many times people throw pictures into a PowerPoint randomly, but this was really well done and fun to watch.
We helped with the wedding. Mostly we helped park people. We also put up signs telling people where the wedding reception was.
Well, most people here in Malaysia insist on backing into their parking space. This isn't a problem when YOU CAN DRIVE! Problem is, they don't know how to drive. No lie, people who back into spaces usually end of going back and forth 3 or 4 times to get into the space properly (and even then, it's far from perfect).
With our signs, we put them up with double sided tape because that's what we were given. The problem was with some heat, some of the tape stuck to the pole. Therefore, after the wedding, four or five of us were scrubbing glue/tape off the pole so when people exited the wedding they probably thought we were crazy people who liked rubbing a pole (not knowing what we were actually doing). We enjoyed it though.
