The 'Ol Car

So on our way back from our homestay last week we noticed a noise from the back wheel that sounded like a bearing was going out. We took the car to our mechanic, and he confirmed that the back tires needed a new bearing and bracket, he tightened up the front wheels, and then looked under the front of the car. He immediately exclaimed "ayo" which is an expression here like "oh no". After showing me, I noticed what he saw - the bracket that goes under the engine was beginning to give way. It was about 2 inches lower because the metal was cracked. He explained that if we didn't fit it, our engine could end up on the ground.

We got both the brackets and the engine bracket fixed for about $250 - horah for used cars. Here is a picture of what it looked like before:

For those of you who are car inclined, you can see a crack in the bar that goes from the left to the right and then you will notice the underside of that bracket has bent metal edges. The bracket, held on with two bolts, is about 1-2 inches lower than it should be.

In other news, we are looking for a house to stay in and hope to get something taken care of this weekend. We've been spending our time driving around. We have a couple good possibilities.
