Stand

We got a portable air conditioner for the kids' room thinking we might move it downstairs sometimes. It weighs 60-70 pounds, and before I had it on and end table. The exhaust hose was curved and stretched 4 feet, which didn't work well, leaking heat and sound, so I built a shelf so the hot air could vent directly out. I also taped up the connection to reduce the hot air leaking back in the room (before it leaked almost 10-20%!). I was proud that the shelf matched within a half inch of the hose. It's quite sturdy too...

I'm happy with the results. The kid's room is much quieter.
