Where Cravings Take You

Half an hour ago (9:30pm) I decided I needed to go find a burger stand. You know, pregnancy cravings... I found one actually right in front of my neighborhood. I rarely head out for food at night once Addison is in bed, so I didn't know we had one.  I ordered our burgers and stood beside the cart and watched as he prepared mine plus a dozen other orders. Lesson learned, go wait in the car next time. Being naive IS INDEED so blissful.

No running water available. Wait, let me rephrase that- no water supply whatsoever. Crack eggs for the "special" burgers. Get cheese and raw meat from cooler. Pat down the buns to check the temp. Flip over raw patties. Take the same spatula and lift the cooked burger onto the prepping board. Mayo, msg, chili sauce, dry coleslaw, cucumber, burger, cheese burger, dry coleslaw, sauces once again, bun. Wrapped with a smile.

I couldn't get "SALMONELLA! SALMONELLA! SALMONELLA!" from replaying in my head every time he touched something (reminiscent of the opening scenes from Moms' Night Out). I immediately crossed this cart off the list of "Places to eat with American friends and family". Packed back my must-haves and prayed over my food, while still actually being fairly confident my stomach has become good and hardy over these last 8 years.

And here's what's left of my wrong order (that actually tasted nothing like a burger):
