We had some friends over yesterday. Angela made a sweet potato soup and we planned to pick up some rice from a nearby restaurant on the way home. I asked for 6 containers of plain rice. He put 1 in a bag and I clarified - I wanted 6. He looked at me, looked in the large bin of rice, looked at me again, then at the rice and said, "Finished already." I managed to convince him to give me 3 containers, but I find it funny that I went to a restaurant, asked to buy food that they had (there was plenty of rice) and was told sorry. I think he didn't want to just sell me plain rice - normally people would also get meat or vegetables too. Anyway, one more "Only in Malaysia" moments.
