We went hiking the other day to try to find a waterfall. The drive was about 45 minutes, and it took some backtracking to find the right roads, but finally we found it. Because the road was in a bit of disrepair, we had to hike and extra 20 minutes to get to the trail head. After about 30 minutes, we had a choice between what we through was two trails. The first turned out to be nothing except a village house's water supply pipes (below), and the second took us into the rainforest. We got off the trail a bit, and it took us over an hour of going through thick jungle to get back on. Through leaches, millions of mosquitos, and a ton of thorned trees and plants, we finally made it back to the trail. Worn out and having enough hiking, we headed back... We were probably 5 minutes from the waterfall (as we think we could hear it), but we finally realized there were 3 trails... we took the two wrong ones... of course! Thankfully, we had stopped at an easier access waterfall on the way to this one, so we at least got a jungle trek and a waterfall, just not together exactly.
