Yesterday we left work early to go to the Road Transport Department Headquarters after going to a branch office on Monday. We read a million different takes on what we needed to do, so we are learning as we go. We left work at about 3:45 (usually we finish at about 5:30) and arrived at the "HQ" at 4 and once we showed our paperwork, the front desk gave us a visitors pass and access card and we went to the third floor (kinda felt like a movie...). We got to the third floor expecting hundreds of people waiting on dirty chairs in chaos as things typically are, but we found a few other foreigners applying for licenses as well, comfortable couches to wait on, and a friendly receptionist. We gave our application to the receptionist after about 5 minutes and she checked everything, told us an approval letter would come in about a month, and gave us the following receipt to show to anyone if they ask for our license - it makes our US license valid. Basically, the slip of paper has the address/phone number on one side and "Received On" and a signature on the other - VERY official, huh?
