Well, with Tim in town, we had a good excuse for doing some more touristy things. We took him for dinner on Friday night and let him try mee goreng (fried noodles with a black, spicy sauce), paprik ayam (a spicy, chili sauce based chicken dish), and satay ayam and daging (barbequed chicken and beef). All were a success.
The next day, we went to Batu Caves - a Hindu temple built in a cave. The cave is almost 300 stairs up. We took a taxi out and a local bus back in. At the caves we saw a lot of foreigners, but on the bus back (which cost about 30 cents each) we were definitely the only white faces!
Here are a couple of pictures from the day. The statue is one of their gods, its really big. Also a nice shot of the steps and a monkey on the way up (it was too perfect - a monkey with a banana!).
